I was unwell and all I needed was a bit of kindness.

Source: This

I am really unwell. I have a terrible cold... It's like the worse cold that I have ever got in my entire life. I am sneezing in triplicate. Seriously

And then I ended up doing what one should never do when they have a bad cold.

I. Forgot. To. Carry. Tissues. When. I. Left. Home. This. Morning.

I totally did that.

It was only when I entered the metro that I realised it. I frantically searched my bag for a tiny bit of tissue or a handkerchief. Nothing. There was nothing in my bag and I panicked.

I tried to hold on to my runny nose by resting my head on the panel behind.

I prayed and hoped for my nose to behave but well, It wasn't particularly a great day, remember?

So, there. There came a tickle in the nose and a funny feeling and then a loud sneeze.

The nose gave up and the mucus started flowing, so, I did the next best thing I could. - I lifted my kurta - a bit, perverts - and blew my nose into the bottom inside bit. No, it isn't gross. It is the most sane thing I could think of at that moment.

Unfortunately my co-passengers did not see it the same way as I did. I have never received such disgusting looks from fellow passengers like I did today. They could have possibly thrown me out of the train had they not been too scared of getting infected by me.

One kindly woman offered me her handkerchief which I politely refused because that wouldn't have been too hygienic. Considering that she might have had wiped her sweat/nose/anything else with that handkerchief.

But no one was nice enough to give me a few spare tissues. Not a single soul. Kindness is sparse these days.

So people, be kind and give away your tissues to people in distress because you never know when you will need tissues yourself.

  2. Maybe they didn't have tissues. I mean I don't carry them with me.
Although I must say apart from the hygiene factor, the lady was kind enough :)

    Get well soon!

  3. Inhuman people. This happened with me once, with water. I was coughing badly in train and my throat was so dry. I always carry water, but I forgot that day. There was an aunty sitting opposite to me and she was drinking water. I asked her if I could have few sips (I would have never asked if it wasn't that terrible. My throat was burning and I felt like I would die without water). She said, "Hume Delhi tak jaana hai aur itna hi paani hai." Shameless, inhuman souls. I was so shocked to hear those words. I would have given the whole bottle if I was her.
What you did was best and I appreciate the lady who offered you a kerchief, but shame on everyone else.

    Hope you feel better :)

    1. Now THAT was inhuman and mean. You should have boxed her nose.

I appreciate the kerchief lady too.

Thank you. I am fine today. :D

  8. Why did not use the sleeve instead? More importantly, why not oithers' sleeves?

    1. You cannot blow your nose on a sleeve. You can only wipe and rub your nose on your sleeve and that leaves a risk of your mucus sticking to your cheek.

Because I do not know what others use their sleeve for. I was not going to take that risk
